Mets postseason hopes hinge on veteran pitching staff

Tonight will mark the eleventh overall postseason appearance for the New York Mets franchise.

The loveable Mets went from 0-5 and 11 games under .500 to the hottest team in baseball from June through September and are now in contention for a World Series berth.

The Amazin's have a long hill to climb as they'll need to win two games in Milwaukee to advance and take on the NL East Champion Phillies in the NLDS. Carlos Mendoza will send Luis Severino to the mound to take on Freddy Peralta for Game 1 of the Wild Card round.

The Mets have an arsenal of veteran starting pitchers in: Severino, Sean Manaea, Jose Quintana and David Peterson all available for the series.

As brilliant as MVP candidate Francisco Lindor has been along with Jose Iglesias, Brandon Nimmo and the rest of the Mets lineup, the team's experienced front line starters give them a puncher's chance in a tournament where they'll be considered heavy underdogs.
