Keith Hernandez never has a shortage of opinions. In 2022, Hernandez famously criticized the Philadelphia Phillies defensive acuity as they used that as motivation to clinch a World Series berth.
Back in 2006, Hernandez questioned why a woman was in the Mets dugout during the team's road trip in San Diego.
The former Mets first baseman is a larger than life personality and says what's on his mind. For better or worse.
So, in the fourth inning of Sunday's finale against the Astros, Hernandez commented on Amazin' Clubhouses's very own 1987 New York Mets road Jersey.
Clearly, Hernandez wasn't a fan of the road greys with the racing stripes, but upon discovering the No. 17 and Hernandez on the back, his stance and that of play by play announcer Gary Cohen seemed to soften a bit.
Hernandez and Cohen didn't acknowledge the foul ball was caught by yours truly, but any mention on a live telecast cannot be questioned.
Unfortunately, the Mets dropped the contest 10-5 in 11 innings after a three -hour rain delay.
