Pete Alonso started the offensive fireworks early with a three-run blast over the center field wall to give the Amazin's a huge early spark in the first off John Flaherty.

Started David Peterson pulled a Houdini act in the top of the inning by escaping a first and third, no-out jam and didn't allow a run to score.

The Mets piled on another five runs in the third with Starling Marte, Francisco Alvarez, Francisco Lindor and Brandon Nimmo all clinching RBI hits.

Andy Pages homered to cut a massive lead to 8-2 in the top of the fourth and the Mets answered back with two in the bottom of the frame.

Pages blasted a three run shot in the fifth to cut the lead to 10-5.

Then, Mookie Betts launched a solo bomb to shrink the lead to four runs in the top of the sixth but a Jeff McNeil sacrifice fly gave the Mets an 11-6 advantage.

Marte's eighth inning single to plate Alonso was the last run of the game as Edwin Diaz pitched two scoreless innings to secure the win.

On a day when Betts promised haymakers to the Mets, it was the Orange and Blue knocking the Dodgers out.

Game 6's first pitch is set for Sunday at 8:08 with Sean Manaea taking on a litany of Los Angeles bullpen arms at Dodger Stadium.

Francisco Lindor set the tone with a leadoff home run and Mark Vientos followed with a second inning grand slam to bust the game wide open. Dave Roberts opted to walk Lindor to face Vientos and the Mets third baseman made Los Angeles pay.

Sean Manaua was steady over five innings surrendering two runs and striking out seven Dodgers batters. Edwin Diaz survived a heart attack ninth inning to hold on for a 7-3 win.

New York returns home for Game 3 for a chance to take the series lead. New York will send Luis Severino to the mound, who chose for the Mets to wear their alternate black jerseys.

Citi Field will be rocking on the 24th anniversary of the Mets clinching the 2000 NL Pennant.

The New York Mets punched their ticket to the NLCS and Michael Cohen has an immediate reaction to the epic Game 4 clincher at Citi Field!

Francisco Lindor is the NL MVP. It doesn't matter what the baseball writers say or the voting committee deems.

The Mets are not in this position without Lindor's gaudy numbers, clutch play and poised leadership.

So when No. 12 stepped into the box in the bottom of the sixth inning with one-out and the bases load with the Mets trailing 1-0, there was only one thing for him to do, leave the ballpark.

Lindor took a Jeff Hoffman heater over the right-center field wall to send Citi Field into bedlam.

It was arguably one of the biggest hits in Mets history and certainly in the ballparks 15-year history.

Edwin danced in and out of trouble in the ninth. After letting runners on first and second with no outs Diaz retired the next three batters, including Kyle Schwarber on a 101mph fastball to end the game.

The Mets mobbed Lindor at shortstop and the champagne started to flow. The Amazin's clinched their first NLDS berth since 2015 and will await the winner of the Dodgers-Padres series with their Game 5 slated for Friday.

NLCS Game 1 will open Sunday in either San Diego or Los Angeles. The Mets enjoyed a night on the town Wednesday before gearing up a trip West with the NL Pennant on the line!

The Mets grabbed a 2-1 series edge and are now one win away from clinching an NLCS berth.

Keith Hernandez threw out the first pitch to the roar from his adoring fans despite bouncing it to the plate.

Sean Manaea pitched seven masterful innings with Pete Alonso showing opposite field power with a big fly and Jessie Winker going deep.

Jose Iglesias blasted on two RBI as did Starling Marte.

Aaron Nola couldn't handle the red hot bats in Queens as the Phillies are on the brink of elimination.

A raucous Citi Field crowd will now have the chance to see a series clinching victory for the first time on the ballparks 15-year history.

The Mets are riding a magic carpet ride that keeps getting more compelling and uplifting with each passing day.

New York will send Jose Quintana to the mound against Ranger Suarez for Wednesday night's Game 3 with first pitch set for 5:08 pm.

Citi Field will host Games 3 and 4 of the NLDS. Check out some pregame sights and sounds prior to first pitch of Game 3!

The Mets couldn't solve Phils starter Zach Wheeler who over the course of seven scoreless innings registered nine strikeouts and one hit allowed.

None of that mattered when the Amazin's climbed out of a 2-0 hole to stack a combined five runs in the eighth inning off relievers Jeff Hoffman and Max Strahm.

Kodi Senga started for the Mets and after a leadoff homer to Kyle Schwarber, silenced the Phillies bats over two innings. David Peterson notched four scoreless innings thereafter.

After a leadoff single by Francisco Alvarez in the eighth, who was pinch run for by Harrison Bader, Lindor walked and Mark Vientos drove home Bader to tie the game at 1-1.

Brandon Nimmo followed with a single to left field to give the Mets the lead.  Pete Alonso hit a sacrifice fly to score Vientos. J. D. Martinez singled home Nimmo, and Starling Marte's sac fly to give New York a 5-1 advantage.

The Mets tacked on a run in the top of the ninth inning with a Nimmo RBI single and Ryan Stanek allowed one run to score for a 6-2 final.

New York grabbed the series lead 1-0 in an epic late game comeback that has been the norm for this team in October.

Join Rick Laughand as he shares his thoughts on a trumphant Game 1 win of the Wild Card Round against the Brewers and why the Mets need to close it out in Game 2.

Luis Severino didn't have his best stuff, but it was good enough on Tuesday night as the Mets bats knocked around Milwaukee's pitching for eight runs.

Severino pitched six innings of four-run ball, while the Mets knocked out Freddy Peralta after four innings and three runs allowed.

Mark Vientos, J. D. Martinez, and Jesse Winker knocked in two RBIs apiece, while Jose Iglesias and Starling Marte drove in one run each.

The Mets trailed 2-0 heading to the top of the second inning before scoring three runs to grab the lead.

After falling behind 4-3 headed to the top of the 5th inning, the Mets strung together a slew of two-out RBI hits to score five runs in the frame and grab an 8-4 advantage.

Severino, and the Mets bullpen retired the final 17 Brewers batters to hold on for the win.

The Mets will send Sean Manaea to the mound on Wednesday night looking for the Wild Card series victory and set up a date in Philadelphia on Saturday night against the Phillies for the NLDS Game 1.

The New York Mets are heading to the postseason after a stirring classic against the Atlanta Braves on Monday afternoon. The Mets stormed back twice to stun the Braves 8-7 and advance to the Wild Card round of the National League Playoffs where they will face the Milwaukee Brewers. Full reaction and thoughts on the victory, and why this Mets team will go down as one of the best.

The New York Mets are partying like it's 2013. That's the last time the Amazin's swept a season series from the Pinstripes.

Not even a delays in refueling the team plane could stop them.  The Mets were stranded on the tarmac in Miami into the wee hours of Tuesday's and that couldn't stop the surging Mets on Tuesday in the Bronx.

Carlos Mendoza's Mets followed a narrow 3-2 win with a 12-3 romping in the finale. Francisco Lindor hit a three run shot and a two run bomb, Pete Alonso's two-run round tripper with Tyrone Taylor and Mark Vientos adding solo bombs.

The Mets look like a team to be reckoned with come October, while the Yankees are searching for answers to a mid season swoon.

The Yankees still hold the overall edge against the Mets in head to head matchups with an 80-66 mark and five game series win over them in the 2000 Subway World Series.

After a 101 win regular season campaign, the Mets have nothing to show for it.

Not a divisional banner, playoff round win or any team accolades to celebrate. The San Diego Padres simply outplayed the Amazin's to take the newly instituted 3-game wildcard round 2-1. Yu Darvish dominated Game 1 against a struggling Max Scherzer, while Joe Musgrove shutdown the Mets in the series finale against Chris Bassitt.

A Mets offense that relied on wearing out starting pitchers with patience at the plate and settling for walks and singles for the majority of the regular season instead of tried to dial up home run swings in the postseason.

Whether it was the excitement of the home crowd of Citi Field, the magnitude of the moment or simply just getting away from what made them successful, New York abandoned its offensive formula in Games 1 and 3.

The last three weeks of the season were brutal for Mets fans as they watched their team played down to the level of their competition and continue to give ground to a red-hot Braves team that eventually took the NL East Crown.

Even with new life at the start of the 2022 postseason, a less than healthy Scherzer and erratic Bassitt doomed the Mets in the wildcard round. One of the lone bright spots for the Mets was the performance of Jacob deGrom in Game 2, but he already opted-out of his contract and will become a free agent this winter along with a laundry list of Mets key players including: Edwin Diaz, Brandon Nimmo, Bassitt, Seth Lugo, Carlos Carrassco and Adam Ottavino.

The 2023 Mets will have a much different look than this year's squad, that's simply the reality of the situation. Next year will be the third year of Steve Cohen's majority ownership of the Metropolitans.

He self-imposed a 3-5 year window to deliver a championship to the great fans in New York and as they approach the midway point of that timeframe, the Mets are making progress but still have no hardware to show for it.

At the end of the day, anything short of a championship will be looked upon as a disappointment for Mets fans starved of a World Series ring for the past 36 years.

This winter will make the most critical period for Cohen and General Manager and newly promoted President of Baseball Operations Billy Eppler to retain the key pieces on this club to remain in contention and fill out the roster deficiencies that find the Mets sitting hom for key October baseball.
